Examining the Role of Governance on Economic Growth in Selected Countries

تفاوتهاي عميق درآمد واقعي بين كشورها و فقدان توضيح بنيادي از سازوكار رشد، نهادها را به‌عنوان يك عامل اساسي رشد اقتصادي در كانون توجه اقتصاددانان قرار داده است. هدف پژوهش حاضر، بررسي تأثیر نهادها و سرماية انساني بر رشد اقتصادي 63 كشور برگزيده در قالب دو گروه داراي نهادهاي قوی و ضعيف طي دوره زماني 1996-2009 با استفاده از روش داده‌هاي تابلويي است. يافته¬هاي اقتصادسنجي مطالعه، ارتباط مثبت و معنادار شاخصهاي نهادي و ديگر متغيرهاي استاندارد همچون انباشت سرماية تحقيق و توسعه، سرماية انساني و شدت سرمايه (مورد اخير بجز در گروه داراي شاخصهاي نهادي ضعيف) بر رشد اقتصادي را تأييد مي‌كند. در واقع، پيشرفت در هر يك از ابعاد نهادي (از طريق مشاركت مردم و ثبات سياسي، اثربخشي دولت و سياستگذاري مبتني بر شناخت، حمايت از حقوق مالكيت مادي و فكري و كنترل فساد) بر رشد اقتصادي و تخصيص بهينه منابع از نظر آماري اثر مثبت و معناداري دارد.

The objective of this study is to examine the role of governance on economic growth in 63 selected countries. Countries in the sample are classified into two groups: good governance and weak governance. Panel data approach is employed to estimate specified models using the data during the period 1996– 2009. The results of this article confirm that the governance indicators have positive and statistically significant effect on economic growth. The governance indicators included in the empirical model are political stability, government effectiveness, protection intellectual property rights and corruption. Moreover, some control variables such as R&¬D expenditures, public expenditures on education are included in the empirical model. The results of estimates show that these variables have also positive and statistically significant effect on economic growth in both groups.
