يكي از مضامين شعري كه تقريباً در همه دوره‌هاي تاريخ ادب عربي حضوري چشمگير داشته، خمريه‌سرايي است. در طي قرن چهارم و پنجم هجري، در سرزمين خراسان بزرگ، شاعران زيادي به زبان عربي شعر مي‌سرودند كه با مطالعه اشعار آن‌ها به راحتي مي‌توان دريافت كه خمريه‌سرايي در ميان آن‌ها رشد بسيار چشمگيري داشته است. آنان در خمريات خود، بسياري از جزييات شراب را از جمله رنگ، بو، طعم، جام شراب، ساقي، و تاثير شراب در روح و روان باده نوش با ظرافتي خاص بيان كرده‌اند كه اين امر بيانگر جايگاه خاص خمر (شراب) و خمريه‌سرايي و رواج زياد آن در ميان شاعران اين سرزمين است؛ اما اين رشد و گسترش به لحاظ كمّيّت بوده، نه كيفيّت؛ زيرا آن‌ها در اين نوع از اشعارشان، معاني جديدي را به خمريات شاعران پيش از خود ( اعشي، اخطل و ابونواس) نيفزوده اند؛ بلكه همان معاني را در لباسي از صنايع ادبي همچون تشبيه، استعاره، جناس و ردّ العجز‌ علي‌ الصدر عرضه ‌كرده اند.

One of the themes of the poem has a significant presence in almost all periods in the history of Arabic literature is wine poem. During the fourth and fifth centuries A.D, the Arabic language which had become the official language of the land of Khorasan, wine composition poem among the poets of this land had significantly grown. Wine poets in their tremens had described many details such as the color of the wine, smell, taste, wine, drawer, and the influence of wine on spirit of bibulous which represents a status of wine and wine composition poem and its great popularity among the poets of this land. But this grows and expansion was in numbers but not about quality, becuas they donot add new meaning for previous wine poetry (Al-Aʹsha, Akhtal, AbuNuwas), they just Proffer same meanings likes: simile, metaphor, pun and returning the second hemistich to first hemistich.
