جهان هستي، جهان مكافات است و هر عمل انسان عكس العملي در دنيا و آخرت دارد. پاداش و كيفر از موضوعات مهم متون ديني است و در تمام اديان الهي به طرق و گونه هاي مختلف مطرح گرديده است، در هيچ كتاب آسماني نيست كه از پاداش و كيفر اعمال سخن به ميان نيامده باشد، تنها وجه تمايز آن در شيوه بيان و نوع پاداش و كيفر و زمان و مكان است. قرآن بارها در سور و آيات گوناگون به ويژه ضمن بيان احوال و رفتار گذشتگان و تمثيل نيكوكاران و بدكاران ، به پاداش و عقوبت دنيوي و اخروي آن ها اشاره كرده است. احاديث و روايات معصومين (ع) نيز در اين زمينه به قدري است كه مي توان با استفاده از آن ها به تبيين و تحليل بيشتر و جزيي تري از موضوع دست يافت.فردوسي به عنوان يك شاعر حكيم و آشنا با متون اسلامي و زرتشتي، با به دست آوردن آگاهي از سرگذشت پيشينيان و مشاهده ناكامي بيدادگران و كاميابي دادجويان، اين موضوع اخلاقي را با زبان ها و بيان هاي گوناگون در قالب حكمت ها و آموزه هاي اخلاقي بيان كرده است. مقاله حاضر به بررسي موضوع پاداش و كيفر در شاهنامه اختصاص دارد و مي كوشد جوانب گوناگون ديدگاه فردوسي را درباره اين موضوع مورد مطالعه قرار دهد. از آن جا كه شاهنامه رفتار پادشاهان گذشته را روايت مي كند نگاه فردوسي بيشتر بر بيان رفتار هايي است كه سازگاري بيشتري با اين طبقه اجتماعي دارد و نيكو كاري يا كج رفتاري آن ها مي تواند تاثير شايسته و يا زيان بار ي در جامعه ايجاد كند.

The world of being is the world of punishment, and every action has a reaction both in this world and in the hereafter. Reward and punishment are important subjects in scriptures, mentioned in a variety of ways in all religions. However, the distinction goes to the way this topic has been expressed, the type of reward and punishment as well as their bestowal/infliction time and place. The Holy Qurʹan has repeatedly mentioned, in different Surahs and Ayas, the reward and punishment in this and in the other worlds, through narrating stories and deeds of those living in the past and mentioning the righteous and the evil-doers. Additionally, ahahith and Islamic narratives from the Infallibles (PBUT) are frequent enough that one can find a more thorough explanation and analysis of the topic using them. As a wise poet familiar with Islamic and Zoroastrian texts, and through finding about the stories of predecessors and observing the failure of the cruel and the victory of the justice-seeker, Ferdowsi has touched on this moral issue in different manners and statements in the form of maxims and moral teachings. The present article studies punishment and reward in the Shahnameh, trying to look at different aspects of Ferdowsiʹs view on the topic. Since the Shahnameh narrates kingsʹ demeanor, Ferdowsi focuses on stating conducts befitting this social class, whose righteousness or evil-doing can affect the society positively or negatively.
