Kant and the Relation between Imagination and Reason in the Beauty of Art

كانت در نقد قوه حكم كه سومين كتاب اصلي وي است، تلاش دارد داوري زيباشناختي را به قوه حكم تاملي اختصاص داده و آن را از احكام معرفتي فاهمه در نقد اول و احكام اخلاقي عقل در نقد دوم متمايز سازد. با اين حال از آنجا كه نقد سوم مي‌بايست شكاف بين دو نقد نخست را پر كرده و بنابراين ارتباط بين دو قلمرو فلسفه را امكان پذير سازد، قوه حكم تاملي مي‌بايست در مواضع متعدد، پيوند قواي فاهمه، خيال و عقل را خواه در تاملات زيباشناختي و يا غايت‌شناختي برقرار كند. اين نوشتار درصدد است پس از تقرير اصول كلي حاكم بر قوه حكم زيباشناختي و بازي آزاد خيال و فاهمه جهت نيل به صورت محض و غايي اعيان، چگونگي پيوند اين قوه با عقل در زيبايي هنري و دو قسم برجسته آن، يعني هنر مكانيكي و هنر زيبا (نبوغ) را نشان دهد.

Kant in Critique of Judgment tries to introduce aesthetical judgment as a product of reflective judgment, and he, in the First Critique, separates it from the cognitive judgments of understanding, but in the Second Critique, from the ethical judgments of reason. Because the Third Critique must fill the gap between those two, and thus enable communication between two realms of philosophy, it has to establish a relation between faculties of understanding, reason, and imagination in an aesthetical and a teleological reflective. This paper, introducing the general principles governing on aesthetical reflective judgment and the free play of imagination and understanding for abstraction of pure and final form of objects, wants to justify the relation between imagination and reason in the beauty of art and its two parts, i.e., the mechanical arts, and fine art (genius).
