چكيده: امامت، استمرار نبوت و لطفي از جانب خداي متعال است. امامت جز با تصريح خداوندي تحقق نميپذيرد و مردم در تعيين امام معصوم نقشي ندارند. امامت يكي از اصول بنيادي دين است و ايمان راستين جز با باور به بايستگي آن شكل نمي‌گيرد. امام، كسي است كه خداوند متعال او را، پس از پيامبر به‌عنوان هدايتگر بشر برگزيده و بايد از گناه و ناراستي، پاك و معصوم و به اذن خدا، از جهان غيب آگاه باشد. امام، نمونه كامل انسان و داراي برترين درجه كمال و فضيلت است و از آنجا كه به ياري حق، همه گفتارها و رفتارهاي او نشان از راهي خدايي دارد، پيروي از وي بر همه مردم لازم و بايسته است. بر اين اساس در نوشتار حاضر با روش تحليل اسنادي به تبيين روايي نقش و جايگاه امامت از ديدگاه امام رضا(ع) و دلايل وجوب ولايتپذيري از امام معصوم و ولي امر زمان پرداخته شده و نتايج در قالب بررسي ضرورت وجود امام، شرايط و ويژگي‌هاي امام، نحوه انتخاب امام، چگونگي رسيدن به مقام امامت، راه‌هاي اثبات امامت از ديدگاه امام رضا(ع) و نيز دلايل وجوب ولايت‌پذيري از امام معصوم و ولي امر زمان بيان شده است.
