Ibn Jinni, Metonymy and the Authenticity of Truth

مجاز يكي از مهم‌ترين پديده‌هاي زباني است كه شناخت ويژگي‌هاي آن مي‌تواند نقش به سزايي در شكل‌گيري فهم صحيح از سخن متكلم داشته باشد. اين پديده زباني همواره از جنبه‌هاي مختلف ادبي، اصولي و كلامي بررسي شده است. ابن جني يكي از مشهورترين نحويان و زبان شناسان قرن چهارم است كه در اين باب ديدگاه بسيار ويژه‌و متفاوتي دارد. در نگاه ابن جني، مجاز گستره‌كاربرد بسيار وسيعي دارد چنان كه بيشتر واژگان يك زبان را به خود اختصاص داده و تمييز آن از حقيقت بسيار دشوار مي‌نمايد. برداشت خاص او از مجاز افزون بر تاثيراتي كه بر ادبيات و علم كلام مي‌گذارد، مي‌تواند بر يكي از مشهورترين نظريه‌هاي اصول فقه در مباحث الفاظ يعني اصل ترجيح حقيقت بر مجاز يا «اصالت حقيقت» نيز تاثير گذار باشد. در اين مقاله برآنيم تا در كنار شرح نظريه ابن جني، با بهره گيري از روش توصيفي- تحليلي، تاثير آن را بر اصالت حقيقت مورد مطالعه قرار دهيم. به نظر مي‌رسد با پذيرش ديدگاه ابن جني، عموميت اجراي «اصل حقيقت» آنگونه كه اصوليان ادعاي آن را دارند، با محدوديت‌هاي جدي روبه‌رو ‌شود و بر خلاف نظر ايشان، مي‌بايست به هنگام شك در اراده متكلم از «اصالت مجاز» بهره برد.

As a one of the most important figures of speech among linguistic phenomena, metonymy is considered to be a factor involved in understanding the meaning of the speakerʹs intention correctly, hence it is frequently investigated from various aspects of literature, principles of jurisprudence and theology. Ibn Jinni was a famous grammarian and linguist in the 4th century A.H (10th century AD) who had a very different observation on metonymy. In his point of view, metonymy has a great extent of usage, so that a large number of words used in any languages are considered to be metonymic. This idea leads to the difficulty of distinguishing metonymy from true meaning and as a result can affect or change one of the well-known theories in principles of jurisprudence called the Authenticity of Truth. Thus, using descriptive - analytical method, this article studies the viewpoint of Ibn Jinni about the metonymy and the consequences of accepting his theory with regard to the Authenticity of Truth. It seems that there are serious restrictions in using this principle contrary to what has been claimed in principles of jurisprudence.
