زبان‌شناسي كاربردي انتقادي: رويكرد ميان‌رشته‌ايِ سنجش‌گر در نقد و ارزيابي شاخه‌هاي زبان‌شناسي كاربردي

Critical Applied Linguistics: An Evaluative Interdisciplinary Approach in Criticism and Evaluation of Applied Linguistics’ Disciplines

ظهور جهت‌گيري‌ها و رويكردهاي بارز انتقادي از نيمه دوم دهه 1980 به بعد در عرصه زبان‌شناسي كاربردي با واكنش‌هاي موافق و مخالف متعددي روبرو بوده است؛ جهت‌گيري‌ها و رويكردهايي كه هريك به فراخور قوت و اهميت خود، شماري از ادعاها، مباني و مفروضات رويكردهاي غالب در اين عرصه را به‌چالش كشيده است. ازجمله اين رويكردهاي نوظهور مي‌توان به «زبان‌شناسي كاربردي انتقادي» اشاره كرد. مبدع اين رويكرد، آلستر پني‌كوك، زبان‌شناس برجسته استراليايي است كه ابعاد، حوزه‌ها و علايق آن در سال 2001 در اثري مستقل به جامعه زبان‌شناسي كاربردي معرفي شد. نظر به اهميت انكارناپذير نظري و كاربردي آن و البته مغفول ماندن نسبي اين رويكرد ميان‌رشته‌‌اي كه سنجش و ارزيابي شاخه‌هاي مختلف زبان‌‌شناسي كاربردي را مبتني‌بر مباني و علايق خاصي دنبال مي‌كند، اين مقاله علاوه‌بر معرفي اين رويكرد و حوزه‌ها و علايق آن، با هدف نشان دادن نحوه گام‌به‌گام بهره‌جويي از آن در سنجش و نقد حوزه‌هاي زبان‌شناسي كاربردي، به‌طور خاص با نيم نگاهي به تناسب و اهميت موضوع با جامعه ايران، از بين شاخه‌‌هاي گوناگون، به دو شاخه شاخص آموزش زبان انگليسي و سياست و برنامه‌ريزي زبان انگليسي پرداخته تا تصويري ملموس و كاربردي از ماهيت ميان‌رشته‌اي و كاركردهاي سنجش‌گرايانه آن معرفي و تبيين شود. يافته‌هاي حاصل از بهره‌جويي از اين رويكرد ميان‌رشته‌اي در دو حوزه مورد بررسي، بيانگر كارآمدي آن در هرگونه سياست‌گذاري و برنامه‌‌ريزي آموزشي و زباني متناسب با بافت سياسي، اجتماعي و فرهنگي جامعه هدف مي‌باشد.

The emergence of some significant critical approaches and directions in the field of applied linguistics from the mid-1980s onwards has met with various positive and opposite reactions. On the basis of their strength and significance, such approaches and directions have challenged some of the mainstream approaches’ claims, principles and assumptions. Among them, critical applied linguistics can be highlighted as a new approach, developed by the Australian applied linguist, Alastair Pennycook. The aspects, domains and concerns of this new approach were introduced in his book in 2001. Due to the undeniable importance of this approach, as well as partial negligence regarding it in Iranian academic setting, this paper first intends to introduce this approach, as an approach that evaluates various disciplines of applied linguistics through its own specific principles and interests. Then, in order to show its step-by-step application in the evaluation of different disciplines of applied linguistics, with a glance at its significance and appropriateness in Iranian society, two domains, namely English language education and language policy and planning, are introduced and evaluated in order to provide readers with a visible and practical picture of its interdisciplinary nature and evaluative functions. The findings indicate the efficacy of applying this interdisciplinary framework in any language-in-education policy and planning in accordance with the political, social and cultural context of the target society.
