بررسي دو ترجمه آربري و يوسف‌علي از قرآن كريم بر اساس نظريه تعادل واژگاني بيكر

Studying the two translations of Arbery and Yusef Ali of Qur’an according to baker’s theory of equivalence at word level

چكيده يكي از مشكلاتي كه مترجم طي فرايند ترجمه با آن مواجه مي‌شود، ترجمه واژگان فرهنگي و انتقال تاثير مطلوب اين واژگان به زبان مقصد است. اين مسيله در متون ديني از جمله قرآن كه واژگان فرهنگي بخش قابل توجهي از آيات قرآن را شامل مي‌شود، نمود بيشتري پيدا مي‌كند. در اين پژوهش كيفيت ترجمه آربري و يوسف‌علي از جنبه معادل‌گزيني واژگان فرهنگي و ميزان انتقال مفاهيم به زبان انگليسي ارزيابي شده است. ازاين‌رو، آياتي از قرآن كه در آن مفاهيم فرهنگي ويژه جامعه اسلامي‌ مطرح شده است، همراه با ترجمه دو مترجم مذكور و ترجمه فارسي مكارم شيرازي ذكر شده و به تحليل معادل‌هاي انتخابي از لحاظ انتقال معنا، صحت در انتخاب معادل و فهم صحيح مترجم از آيات ارايه‌شده پرداخته شده است. نتيجه پژوهش اين بود كه در ترجمه آربري به مخاطب بيشتر توجه شده است و واژگان فرهنگي اسلامي به‌صورت تحت‌اللفظي يا معادل‌هاي فرهنگي شناخته‌شده در آيين مسيحيت‌ ترجمه شده‌اند؛ اما يوسف‌علي سعي كرده است اين واژگان را عمدتاً بدون ترجمه و همراه با توضيح اضافه به زبان انگليسي منتقل كند. كليدواژه‌ها: تعادل واژگاني، واژگان فرهنگي، معادل، مونا بيكر، آربري، يوسف‌علي.

Abstract One of the difficulties encountered by the translator in the process of translation is the translation of cultural –bound words and conveying its desired impact in the target language. This problem gains greater importance in translating religious texts including Qur’an, in which cultural words comprises considerable amount of Quranic verses. This article has tried to compare the quality of Arbery and Yusef Ali’s translations, considering their choice for cultural words and their ability to produce the desired result in English. Therefore verses have been chosen in which distinct Islamic cultural concepts have been discussed along with the two mentioned translations in English and the Persian translation of Makarim Shirazi. In this study the word equivalents in the two translations mentioned have been studied considering their adequateness and correctness, alongside with the correctness of their understanding of the mentioned verses at whole. This article has reached these conclusions: in Arbery’s translation the emphasis was on the addressee and the Islamic cultural words had been either literally translated or given equivalents known in Christianity, whereas Yusef Ali tried to convey these notions in English, mostly by leaving the words without any translation in English while giving extra explanations.
