Gender Differences in Mate Selection Criteria

پژوهش حاضر با هدف بررسي ترجيحهاي انتخاب همسر دختران و پسران، مقايسه ملاك‌هاي دو جنس و بررسي تغييرات ايجاد شده در مهم‌ترين ملاك‌هاي اين نمونه، در مقايسه ‌با نمونه ‌پژوهشي انجام گرفت كه در اوايل دهه شصت در كشور انجام شده بود. تعداد ??? دانشجو (??? پسر و ??? دختر) به شيوه نمونه‌گيري در دسترس از بين دانشجويان دانشگاه شهيد بهشتي انتخاب شدند و با استفاده از پرسش‌نامه ملاك‌هاي انتخاب همسر بررسي شدند. داده‌هاي پژوهش با استفاده آزمون‌هاي فريدمن و t مستقل تحليل شد. يافته‌ها حاكي از آن بود كه بين پسران و دختران در بيشترِ ملاك‌هاي انتخاب همسر تفاوت معناداري وجود دارد. به‌ طور كلي، پسران، ملاك‌هاي مرتبط با زيبايي و دختران، ملاك‌هاي مرتبط با توانايي مالي مرد و قابل ‌اتكا بودن او را بيشتر ترجيح مي‌دهند. همچنين مقايسه نتايج پژوهش حاضر با پژوهش انجام‌ شده در اوايل دهه شصت نشان‌دهنده تغييراتي در زمينه ملاك‌هاي انتخاب همسر، از جمله افزايش اهميت آينده مالي خوب براي دختران و اهميت زيبايي براي پسران نمونه حاضر بود. يافته‌هاي مربوط ‌به تفاوت‌هاي جنسيتي از ديدگاه تكاملي انتخاب همسر حمايت كرد. مقايسه نتايج پژوهش حاضر با پژوهش انجام‌ شده در اوايل دهه شصت نيز حاكي از تغييراتي در فرهنگ كشور از ارزشهاي سنتي و ديني در انتخاب همسر به‌سوي ارزش‌هاي غيرسنتي و مدرن بود.

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the males and females mate preferences, comparing the criteria between two sexes, and the changes in most important criteria in the sample of this study with a previous sample of a study that was carried out in Iran in early 80s. Subjects were 375 (168 mal and 207 female) students selected through available sampling from Shahid Beheshti university and were assessed using questionnaire of mate selection criteria. The data of this research was analyzed using Friedman and independent t test. Result showed that there were significant differences between males and females in most of the mate selection criteria. Overall, males preferred criteria related with beautifulness and females preferred the criteria related to males financial capability and reliability. Furthermore, the results of the present study indicate a serial of changes that have been occurred since early 80ʹs in mate selection criteria. For example, an increase in the importance of good finance pros-pact for females and the important of the beautifulness for males of this sample. The results related to sex differences support the evolutionary theory of mate selection. Comparing the results of the present study and the results of study that has been done in early 80ʹs shows cultural changes in our country from traditional and religious values towards non-traditional and modern values in mate selection.
