Decontamination in Chemical and Biological Accident

Decontamination of biological and chemical casualties begin with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (if necessary) and evacuation of casualties from the contaminated area. In the second step, decontamination of protecting cover and body takes place and finally internal decontamination is done. For biological and chemical decontamination, topical standard solution or fullerʹs earth is used and it is by washed after an appropriate period. If these substances are not available, water and liquid soap can be used. In case of contamination the eyes, they are washed with normal saline or water for 10-15 minutes. Internal decontamination in case of oral poisoning consists of gastric lavage or epica, laxative, activated charcoal and antidote administration, hydration of patient for poison neutralizing and excretion of toxin from blood circulation.
