Anti Aspergillus IgE Antibody Detection

It has been shown that aspergillus is the major cause of asthma symptoms. The smear diagnostic test is not specific. Measurement of serum IgE and IgG antibodies specific for aspergillus fumigatus is used in the diagnosis of allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillusis (ABPA) in humans. Therefore, the aim of this research was measuring the antibody by Elisa method. In this study aspergillus fomigatus were isolated from patients and water soluble antigens were coated at 0.6 mg/well in 96 well flat bottom plates. Total IgE antibody was detected and reported as IU. The results showed that 42.42% and 57.58% of patients have IgE level less than 20 and more than 100 units respectively. Specific sera IgE antibody against aspergilus was detected by ELISA and reported based on cut off point. In 34.84% of the patients no specific IgE antibody was detected (OD less than cut off point). While the remaining 65.16% of patients showed different OD over cut off point refering to specific IgE antibody levels. Overall it is suggested the possible detection of anti aspergillus IgE antibody by ELISA method is effective.
