Analysis of Fel Manfi Novel [In Exile] by George Salem Regarding Its Circumstance story

«داستان موقعيت» يك جريان ادبي غربي و يك شيوه داستان‌نويسي است كه نام كافكا با آن گره خورده است. اين نوع ادبي در ادبيات عرب تقريباً ناشناخته است و نويسندگان عرب از طريق مطالعه داستان‌هاي غربي با سبك و سياق آن آشنا شده‌اند. «جرج سالم» نويسنده سوري از جمله كساني است كه رمان في المنفي (در تبعيدگاه) خود را در اين قالب نگاشته و مقاله حاضر با رويكردي تحليلي به بررسي شاخصه‌هاي اين سبك در رمان فوق مي‌پردازد. يافته‌هاي پژوهش نشان مي‌دهد كه سالم در اين رمان از قالب داستان موقعيت براي نشان دادن رابطه انسان و جهان بهره برده و بي‌پناهي، حقارت و ناتواني انسان را در اين جهان به تصوير مي‌كشد. او در اين راستا همه عناصر رمان را به خدمت مي‌گيرد و موقعيتي ناگهاني، بي‌علت و غيرقابل فهم خلق مي‌كند كه تمام جنبه‌هاي زندگي شخصيت رمان را زير سيطره خود مي‌گيرد و امكان هر نوع برون‌رفت را از او سلب نموده و تنها با مرگ‌ از سلطه اين اراده بيروني رهايي مي‌يابد. بي‌مكاني و بي‌زماني موقعيت، بي‌نامي شخصيت‌ها و به طور كلي حذف جنبه‌هاي شخصي و محدودكننده از رمان عواملي است كه در تبعيدگاه را به رماني جهاني و متعلق به همه زمان‌ها، بدل كرده است.

The circumstance story is a western literary writing style which is attributed to Kafka. This literary style is almost unfamiliar to the Arabic literature and the Arab writers became familiar with it through a study of the Western stories and literary styles. George Salem, the Syrian author, is considered as one of the writers among the followers of this literary style. He has composed his novel called "In Exile" in accordance with the features of this style. This paper, by using an analytical approach, tries to explore the characteristics of this style in this novel. The results show that Salem has employed this literary style to portray the human relationship with the world, as well as depict the loneliness, inferiority and inability of the man in the world. To achieve this goal, he takes advantage of all storytelling elements, creates abrupt, unprecedented and incomprehensible circumstances that cover all aspects of the novelʹs characters, and thwarts any chance of liberation from the external deterministic dominance which is only granted by death. Lack of the spatial and temporal location, charactersʹ anonymity and generally removing personal and limiting dimensions of this novel are the factors that have changed this work “In Exile” as a universal one for all times.
