Feasibility of utilization of Amygdalus tree branches in particleboard industry

In this study feasibility of utilization of trimmed branches of Amygdalus trees in particleboard industry was investigated. Amygdalus branches were supplied from Esfehan fruite gardens. Behavior of Amygdalus in transverse comperssion was studied. Due to Amygdal is a heavy species and its compression factor is low, poplar was used to compensate Amygdalus short coming. In this study percentage of poplar and Amygdalus in mixturer, press pressure and press temperature were used as dependent and other parameters were kept constant for all boards. Laboratory particleboards were made from mixture particles of poplar and Amygdalus at different conditions of press pressure and press temperature. Physical and mechanical properties of boards were evaluated. Results indicated that utilization of Amygdalus by to 15 percent in mixture with popolar does not negative effect on physical and mechanical properties of boards. Increasing press temperature by 160 degree centigrade allows Amygdalus to be used as high as 30 percent in mixture with other particles. It is noted that using of poplar highly reduced the negative effect of Amygdalus.
