در دهه‌هاي اخير، قالي‌ قم به سبب زيبايي منحصر به فرد طرح، نقش و رنگ همراه با ابريشم و رجشمار بالا از شهرت و جذّابيت بهره‌مند بوده است. از اين‌رو شناخت عوامل مؤثر جذابيت قالي قم از بُعد زيبايي‌شناسي با تكيه بر سه عنصر طرح، نقش و رنگ امري ضروري است. بدين سبب پژوهش حاضر با تجزيه و تحليل بيش از صد نمونه قالي معاصر قم، با هدف بررسي دلايل زيبايي قالي اين منطقه از نظر خريداران و تطبيق آن با مباني زيبايي‌شناسي هنرهاي سنّتي انجام شد. نتايج حاصل از نظرسنجي متقاضيان قالي قم نشان مي‌دهد كه رنگ و نوع رنگ‌بندي در كنار نوآوري در طرح‌‌هاي سنّتي، ظرافت، بافت منظم و جلاي ابريشم، مهم‌ترين عامل زيبايي و جذابيت قالي‌هاي قم به شمار مي‌آيد، اما به‌رغم تنوع در طرح و رنگ، نقوش ريز و متراكمي كه سطح ظاهري قالي را مي‌پوشاند، از تنوع فرمي پاييني بهره‌مند است كه تنها كاربرد اِشغال فضا و ايجاد تنوع رنگي را بر عهده دارد. به طور كلي نتايج نظر سنجي نشان مي‌دهد، مؤثرترين عامل زيبايي در درجۀ اول به رنگ و چيدمان رنگي، در درجۀ دوم نوآوري در طرح و سپس تركيب‌بندي نقوش وابسته است. اين پژوهش توسعه‌اي به روش كتابخانه‌اي و همچنين ميداني انجام شد كه به شيوه‌هاي اسنادي و پيمايشي، اطلاعات لازم به‌دست آمد و نتايج به روش توصيف و تحليل محتوا بررسي شد. نتايج مطالعۀ مباني زيبايي‌شناسي هنرهاي سنّتي و تطبيق آن با قالي‌هاي قم نشان مي‌دهد، به‌رغم وجود تغييرات و خلّاقيّت‌هاي بسيار، قالي اين منطقه در بستر اصول هنرهاي سنّتي رشد يافته و از منظر طرح، نقش و رنگ خارج از اصول نيست. اگر چه اين قالي طي دو دهۀ اخير، از اصل كاربردي بودن، سادگي و صميميت كه از مشخصه‌هاي مهم هنر سنّتي است، فاصله گرفته و به هنري تجملي تبديل شده است.
