China’s Military Cooperation with Iran and Pakistan: A Comparative Study

هدف اصلي مقاله واكاوي نقش و جايگاه پاكستان و ايران در همكاري‌هاي نظامي و معادلات استراتژيك چين است، تا علل و آثار اين روابط در جهت‌گيري‌هاي سياست خارجي اين كشور در پرتو معادلات استراتژيك قدرت مشخص شود. با بررسي سير روابط نظامي چين با قدرت‌هاي منطقه‌اي طي سال‌هاي اخير به دليل فعال شدن سياست خارجي چين در مناطق جنوب و غرب آسيا اين سيوال مطرح مي‌شود كه كدام يك از دو كشور پاكستان و ايران از جايگاه و اهميت بالاتري در استراتژي نظامي چين برخوردار بوده و علل و آثار اين جايگاه متفاوت در معادلات بازي قدرت به چه شكل نمايان شده است؟ يافته‌هاي پژوهش حاكي از گسترش روابط نظامي چين با پاكستان به سطح همكاري و اتحاد استراتژيك و نبود چنين سطحي از همكاري در روابط نظامي ايران و چين است. روش پژوهش مبتني‌بر نمودارها و آمار مركز مطالعات صلح استكهلم و منابع كتابخانه‌اي است.

The main objective of this article is to study the status Iran and Pakistan occupy in Chinese military cooperation arrangements and the imprints these relations leave on the foreign policy orientations of China in light of the strategic power equations. Examining the trend of China’s military relations with regional powers within the last few years particularly subsequent to activation of China’s foreign policy in South and West Asia, I seeks to answer this primary questions that which of the two countries of Pakistan and Iran have priority in Chinese military strategy. I also address the consequences of Iran and Pakistan’s military cooperation with China on regional and inter-regional power equations. I contend that China’s military relations with Pakistan have been on the rise to the level of strategic cooperation or even alliance, while Iran has lagged behind in ascending to such levels. The data provided by Stockholm International Peace Research Institute are used extensively in this research besides some other archival data.
