بحث مشروعيت حكومت و مباني آن هميشه و از ديرباز توجه فلاسفه و دانشمندان علوم سياسي را به خود معطوف داشته و بعنوان يكي از اصولي ترين مسائل حكومت و فلسفه سياسي در دايره تحقيقات و تتبعات علمي قرار گرفته است. چرا كه بقا و دوام حكومت و نظام سياسي بستگي تام به ميزان مشروعيت آن نظام داشته و خواهد داشت. در اين مقاله ضمن توجه و دقت در معاني لغوي و اصطلاحي مشروعيت و ارائه تعاريفي كه از اين واژه ارائه كرديم لذا به اين نتيجه مي رسيم كه حق حاكميت فرمانروايان صحيح ترين و مناسب ترين واژه براي تعريف اين واژه مي باشد؛ اما مشروعيت جمهوري اسلامي در ايران ضمن دارا بودن غالب عناصر و مؤلفه‌هاي نظام دموكراسي، كارويژه‌ها و امتيازات ثبت مشروعيت الهي را در خود جاي داده است؛ بنابراين نظامي با اين نوع مشروعيت اولاً از نيازهاي طبيعي انسان امروزي و متناسب با شرايط فكري عصر حاضر است كه آراء مردمي يكي از شاخصه هاي اصلي آن مي باشد. ثانياً در اين نظام مشروعيت اساساً و بطور كلي متزلزل و مورد خدشه واقع نمي شود چرا كه هر يك از نارسائيها و كاستي هاي مشروعيت مردمي يا الهي كه در قانون اساسي هم ذكر شده بواسطه يكديگر جبران و مرتفع مي شوند. ثالثاً حكومتي كه از مشروعيت دو جانبه برخوردار باشد، ضمن تقابل با حاكميت مردم از دوام و قوام بسيار بالايي برخوردار خواهد بود و در ادامه با تقويت اين دو با بحران مشروعيت مواجه نخواهد شد.

But the legitimacy of the Islamic Republic in Iran, while possessing the majority of elements and components of the democratic system, contains the subjects and privileges of the registration of divine legitimacy. Therefore, a military with this kind of legitimacy is first of all the natural needs of today's human being and is in keeping with the intellectual conditions of the present age, which is one of the main characteristics of popular opinion. Secondly, this system of legitimacy is not fundamentally and generally undermined, because each of the inadequacies or deficiencies of the legitimacy of the people or the divinity mentioned in the constitution are compensated and corrected by each other. Thirdly, a mutually legitimate government, while in opposition to the sovereignty of the people, will have a high degree of durability and consistency, and will not continue to strengthen the two with a legitimate crisis
