Status of Professional Ethics in Performance of Iranian Print Media Journalists Today

مقاله حاضر به موضوع جايگاه اخلاق حرفه‌اي در عملكرد روزنامه‌نگاران مطبوعات امروز ايران پرداخته است. در اين پژوهش با 20 نفر از روزنامه‌نگاران، ‌استادان ارتباطات، حقوقدانان و مديران مسئول روزنامه‌ها مصاحبة عمقي انجام گرفته است. نظريه هنجاري مطبوعات و تأكيد بر مفهوم عينيت چارچوب نظري اين پژوهش را تشكيل مي‌دهد. در چارچوب مفهومي اين پژوهش، بر نظرية مسئوليت اجتماعي و مفهوم عينيت تأكيد شده است. بنابراين پرسش‌هاي تحقيق با توجه به اين چارچوب و در قالب گويه‌ها و موقعيت‌هاي اخلاقي، غيراخلاقي و ترديدآميز طراحي شده‌اند. در اين سوال‌ها مصاحبه‌شوندگان هر كدام در پاسخ به سوال، دليل خود را نيز توضيح داده‌اند. نتايج پژوهش نشان مي‌دهد بين مصاحبه شوندگان درباره اخلاقي، غيراخلاقي يا ترديدآميز بودن بسياري از موقعيت‌هايي كه روزنامه‌نگاران با آن مواجه مي‌شوند، اتفاق نظر وجود ندارد. به طوري كه رعايت نشدن اخلاق حرفه‌اي در روزنامه‌نگاري، به امري طبيعي بين بسياري از روزنامه‌نگاران تبديل شده است. يكي از دلايل اين امر، عدم وجود قانوني مشخص و شفاف در زمينة اخلاق روزنامه‌نگاري است.

This paper addresses the role of professional ethics in the performance of Iranian print media journalists today. In this study, in-depth interviews were conducted with 20 journalists, communication professors, jurists and newspaper managing directors. The press normative theory and emphasis on the objectivity concept form the theoretical framework of this research. In the conceptual framework of this research, emphasis is laid on the theory of social responsibility and the objectivity concept. Therefore, research questions are designed within this framework and in terms of statements as well as ethical, unethical and controversial situations. Replying the questions, the interviewees have also explained their reasons for their choices of answers. The study findings indicate that there is no consensus among the interviewees about the ethical, unethical or controversial nature of the many situations that journalists are confronted with. This is to the extent that failure to observe professional ethics in journalism has become a natural occurrence among many journalists.
