ادبيات مقاومت به عنوان يكي از انواع جديد ادبي، در بسياري از كشورهاي عربي و غير عربي، رايج است. برخي شاعرانِ اين عرصه، سهم بسزايي در روند تصوير آفريني­ هاي زيبا و خيال انگيزي­ هاي پويا داشته ­اند كه محمدعلي شمس ­الدين شاعر متعهد لبناني يكي از آن شاعران است. او از يك سو همچون ديگر شاعران نو پرداز معاصر براي بيان ديدگاه­ هاي خويش، از طريق به كارگيري فراوان پارادوكس به آشنايي زدايي دست زده و بدين شيوه شعر مقاومت را از خطر روزمر­گي و ابتذال نجات داده است و از سوي ديگر از الگوهاي ديني و اسطوره­ هاي تاريخي در جهت خلق تصاوير هنري بسيار زيبا، بهره برده است. از بررسي اشعار شاعر اينچنين بر مي­آيد كه وطن دوستي، و پايبندي به ارزش­ هاي اعتقادي و ديني از مهمترين مصاديق و عناصر مقاومت در اشعار وي به شمار مي ­آيد.

Resistance literature in many Arab and non-Arab is extensively used as a recent style of literature. Some poets applying this style played an important role in the imagination of beautiful and dynamic visualization, and the undertaking Lebanese poet, Mohammad Ali Shams al-Din is considered as one of them. He also considers other modern contemporary poets, in order to express his viewpoints by using defamiliarization with paradoxes (paradox) as well as symbols and thus resorted resistance themes from the threat of vulgarity and on the other hand used religious and historical myths in order for providing majestic perspective. Inspecting the poet documents, patriotism and commitment to the values ​​and religious beliefs can be addressed as the most important issues and elements of his poems encountering to resistance.
