اورهان پاموك نويسنده اهل تركيه در رمان خود باعنوان نام من سرخ ضمن روايت داستاني شبه تاريخي از برهه اي از تاريخ تحولات فرهنگي و هنري كشورش، تقابل هنر سنتي و هنر غربي را در قالب روايتي بلند از نقاشان دربار عثماني در مواجهه با نقاشي ونيزي (غربي) نمايانده است. او با رجوع به گذشته اي دور و نقل داستان و داستانك هايي كه در تاريخ، افسانه و رويا ريشه دارند، به گونه اي مسائل امروز جامعه خود و در نگاهي وسيع تر، يكي از معضلات جهان امروز را بازسازي مي كند. اين بازسازي هوشمندانه كه با نوعي بينامتنيت در نقاشي و ادبيات همراه است، در برخورد با مخاطب خود اين پرسش را در ذهن او تداعي مي كند كه نويسنده از پس اين متن، درپي بيان چه چيزي است و مقصود خود را چگونه بازنمايي مي كند. از يافته هاي پژوهش به اين شرح است كه اين داستان درنهايت تفسيرِ تضاد يا پارادوكس تاريخي- فرهنگي سنت و تجدد در تركيه اي است كه دست كم از پنج قرن پيش تاكنون همچنان درگير اين ماجراست. به همين منظور، در اين پژوهش وجوه هنري و ادبي رمان نام من سرخ را بررسي و تحليل مي كنيم. روش اين مقاله توصيفي- تحليلي، و شيوه گردآوري اطلاعات اسنادي/ كتابخانه اي است.
