مهم‌ ترين رخداد تاريخي، كه در پرتو آن رشد شهرنشيني و طبقه ‌بندي اجتماعي ايران تحت ‌تأثير قرار گرفت، انقلاب‌ مشروطه است. طرح مفاهيم جديدي از جمله دولت ـ ملت، تأسيس مراكز آموزشي جديد با هدف توسعۀ دولتي آموزش نوين، تأسيس نهاد قانون ‌گذاري و وارد شدن برخي گروه‌‌ هاي اجتماعي به‌ عرصۀ كنش ‌گري مدرن با هدف توسعۀ حوزۀ عمومي، شأن تاريخي پيدا كردن اجتماع، و رشد تاريخ ‌نگاري توده‌ ها و گروه‌‌ هاي خاموش جامعه بر اثر نقش ‌آفريني درون تحولات مشروطه از نشانه‌‌ هاي آغاز راهي جديد بود تا گروه‌‌ هاي فعال اجتماعي در قالب گروه‌‌ هاي شهري و تحصيل ‌كرده با سطح اقتصادي متوسط در توسعۀ تحولات دروني نقش ‌آفريني كنند. با اين‌ حال، عوامل توسعه ‌بخش و گاه موانع ساختاري، فرهنگي، اقتصادي، و سياسي در توسعه و تحديد نقش آنان و قبض و بسط توفيقات اين لايۀ مياني جامعۀ جديد ايران مؤثر بوده ‌اند. كتاب طبقة متوسط درصدد ارزيابي گفتمان‌‌ هاي سياسي موجود در قشرهاي مياني جامعۀ ايران از 1320 تا 1380 با ره ‌يافتي جامعه‌ شناختي است كه البته نقدهايي در عرصۀ روش ‌شناسي، مباني تاريخي، و ساختاري بر آن وارد است. با روشي انتقادي و از منظر تاريخي ـ جامعه ‌شناختي به ارزيابي كتاب و آسيب ‌شناسي مباحث آن و طرح اين مسئله دقت ‌شده است كه چرا اين كتاب نگاه جامعي به مسئلۀ‌‌ طبقۀ متوسط نداشته است؟

Constitutional revolution has been the most important historical event that influenced the growth of urbanization and social classification in contemporary Iran. Creating new concepts such as nation-state, establishment of new training centers with the aim of developing modern public education, the establishment of a legislative body and into some social groups with the aim of developing modern activism into the public domain, Historical position to find the social and historical development of the masses and the role of community groups off constitutional changes, all of these were some of components that Signaled the start of a new way to social activist groups in urban and educated groups having average economic level of development for doing the internal role of developments. However, development factors and some structural barriers such as cultural, economic and political Obstacles contributed in expansion and success of this new layer of society in different periods. The book named "middle class" has sought to analyze and assess the political discourse in the middle groups of Iranian society from 1941 to 2001 AD, with a sociological approach. But, it should be criticized its scientific evaluation from the methodological, theoretical and historical, and structural perspectives. I am going to analyze the content of this book with a critical method for finding this problem that:"why this book has not a comprehensive perspective at the middle class problems in Iran after constitutional revolution?"
