هدف اين مقاله، نقد و بررسي كتاب اجتماع آينده (The Coming Community) تأليف جورجو آگامبن، فيلسوف و نظريه پرداز معاصر ايتاليايي است. اثر مزبور يكي از متون برجسته در حوزۀ فلسفۀ سياسي و انديشه انتقادي است كه در چارچوب سنت فكري چپ نو جاي مي گيرد. آگامين در اين كتاب مي كوشد با تفكر درباره زبان به‌ درون سياست نظري و عملي گام بردارد و از اين طريق مفاهيم بنيادين سياست غرب را به چالش بكشد و اجتماع آينده (موردنظر خود) را از دل تجربۀ ناب زباني بنا نهد. به عقيدۀ آگامبن نوعي شكاف و دوگانگي در سنت سياسي و فلسفي غرب وجود دارد كه ناشي از دوگانگي هاي «فونه» (صوت يا آواي طبيعي و حيواني) و «لوگوس» (كلام دلالت گر انساني)؛ حيات طبيعي (زوئه) و حيات مدني و سياسي (بيوس) و در يك كلام دوگانگي ميان طبيعت و تمدن است. به ‌نظر مي رسد آگامبن به‌ دنبال تعريف جديدي از زيست سياست (زندگي ‌سياسي) است تا از اين طريق بتواند جايگاه طبيعت را در حيات مدني و سياسي بازيابد. آگامبن در اين اثر، به ‌تقدس زندگي سياسي نمي انديشد ومي كوشد تعلقات‌ هويتي اشخاص رااز طريق سهيم كردن آن‌ ها در تجربۀ زباني و «تكينگي موجود هرچه يا هر طور» بازآفريني كند
