جهاني شدن امري اجتناب­ناپذير است كه همه جنبه­هاي زندگي بشر اعم از اقتصادي، سياسي، فرهنگي و اجتماعي را دربر گرفته است و از اين رو برخي كشورها را با مشكلات جدي مواجه كرده است. جهاني شدن نقش مرزهاي جغرافيايي را در تصميم ­گيري­هاي كلان و فعاليت­هاي سياسي، اقتصادي و فرهنگي انسان­ها كاهش داده و منافع تك تك افراد و كشورها، بيش از هميشه با منافع تمامي مردم و كشورهاي جهان مشترك گرديده است. لذا اين تاثيرات به ايفاي نقش بازيگري ايران و نخبگان سياسي جمهوري اسلامي ايران و سيستم كلان مديريتي كشور بستگي دارد. در اين راستا همواره متوليان سياست گذاري­هاي كلان كشور در تكاپو بوده­اند تا ميان هم­گرايي با فرهنگ جهاني از يك سو، حفظ فرهنگ اصيل و غني ايراني- اسلامي از سويي، به نقطه تعادل برسند. با اين اعتقاد كه هويت­ها و فرهنگ­هاي غني و قدرتمند نظير فرهنگ ايراني كه از استمرار و دوام گروه­هاي مختلف قومي شكل گرفته و به طور مسالمت­آميز در طول تاريخ در داد و ستد با فرهنگ­هاي گوناگون بوده است، به راحتي در مواجه با جهاني شدن چه به مثابه پروژه و پروسه نه تنها مستحيل نشده بلكه شكوفاتر مي­شوند. بنابراين با فرض تعامل و پيوستگي فرهنگ ايراني با فرهنگ جهاني، شناخت ظرفيت­ها و قابليت­هاي فرهنگي و تمدني ايران اسلامي در عصر كنوني و در تعامل با آن نقش بسزايي خواهد داشت، درغير اين صورت به حذف فرصت­ها و تهديدي جدي براي هويت و امنيت ملي بدل خواهد شد.
