ترجمه بين نشانه اي و تحريف فرهنگي : بررسي موردي تصوير گري در ترجمه رباعيات خيام

Intersemiotic Translation, Illustration and the Manipulation of Culture

ياكوبسن (1959) در طبقه بندي سه گانه اش، ترجمه بين نشانه اي را يكي از انواع ترجمه ذكر مي كند كه در آن وسيله ارتباط تغيير پيدا مي كند. هدف تحقيق حاضر بيان و اثبات اين مطلب است كه ترجمه بين نشانه اي، همانند ترجمه بين زباني، ميتواند اثر اصلي را تحريف كند. وقتي كه متني در زبان مقصد ترجمه ميشود و به صورت مصور هم در مي آيد اجزاي تصويري و عكس ها گاها متن اصلي را در سطوح مختلف زباني و فرهنگي تحريف ميكنند.در اين پژوهش سعي مي شود با بررسي رباعيات خيام، ترجمه آن به وسيله فيتزجرالد و تصاوير قرار داده شده در نسخه ترجمه شده به وسيله ادموند ساليوان، دستكاري و تحريف متن و فرهنگ اصلي نشان داده شود. تصوير گر در اين اثر به وضوح سعي كرده با ايجاد التقاط تصويري، نمادسازي، و فضا سازي و تلميح درون متني و تغيير ماهيت عناصر فيزيكي و غير فيزيكي همانند اشيا، فضا ها، پوشش ها، ايدئولوژي ها و ...، فرهنگ و هويت اصلي و ايراني را تغيير داده و آن را با معيارها و كليشه هاي غربي همگام سازد. به عبارتي ديگر مصور سازي به عنوان نوعي ترجمه بين نشانه اي ماهيت اصلي و ايراني شعر خيام را دچار دستكاري و دگرگوني ميكند.

The present study aims to show how intersemiotic translation could be a stage for manipulation and alteration of the original text and culture. In a similar vein with Jakobson's (1959) tripartite typology of translation, this study states that when the medium of communication is changed, clear traces of manipulation could be observed. This is specially the case when the textual medium is changed into the visual medium such as comics, pictures and book illustrations. The present paper’s claim is that when a translated book is published in the language of the target the pictorial elements tend not to fully manifest the cultural atmosphere of the original, but to distort the culture and words of the original. Such a manipulation of the original moves between the medium of translation i.e. textual and visual. The current claim not only suggest a superficial manipulation of the physical, atmospheric setting, but it also unveils a purposeful trend which aims to relocate the culture of the original in the complete, new arena of the target. Making use of Khayyam’s poetry illustrated by Edward Sullivan, the study found clear examples of manipulation where the words of the original where by some means were manipulated intersemiotically, and thus resulted in an altered image of Iranian culture.
