بررسي رابطه غيرخطي فقر و اندازه دولت در اقتصاد ايران با استفاده از روش رگرسيون آستانه‌اي

Non-linear relationship between poverty and the size of the government in the Iranian economy: using a threshold regression method

با تغيير برخي از اهداف دولت‌ها درگذشته و پررنگ‌تر شدن وظايف رفاهي و حمايتي اقشار مختلف در جامعه، پديده فقر و رابطه آن با دولت يكي از مباحثي است كه همواره مورد توجه متخصصان و سياست‌گذاران در جوامع توسعه‌ يافته و درحال‌توسعه است. در اين چارچوب اقدام به بررسي فرضيه وجود رابطه غيرخطي تأثير اندازه دولت بر فقر براي اقتصاد ايران شده است. بدين منظور عوامل مؤثر بر فقر مطلق با روش رگرسيون آستانه‌اي مدل‌سازي شد. نتايج حاصل از برآورد رگرسيون آستانه‌اي نشان داده است كه اندازه دولت تأثيري آستانه‌اي بر فقر مطلق داشته و حد آستانه اندازه دولت حدود 21/5 درصد برآورد شده است؛ به‌عبارت‌ديگر، در رژيم دولت كوچك‌تر از حد آستانه است اندازه دولت تأثيري منفي اما بي‌معني بر فقر مطلق داشته است، اما پس از عبور از آستانه مذكور و قرار گرفتن در رژيم دولت بزرگ، اندازه دولت تأثيري مثبت و معني‌دار بر فقر مطلق داشته است و گسترش اندازه دولت موجب تشديد فقر شده است.

Since government duties and goals have been tended toward welfare and supportive duties over the time, the poverty and role of the government in the reduction it has been the attractive research issue for specialists and policy-makers in developed and developing societies. In this line, we hypothesized that there is a nonlinear relationship between poverty and the size of the government in Iran. The influential factors on extreme poverty are determined by using the threshold regression method. The results show that the size of the government has a threshold effect on extreme poverty. The estimated threshold is about 5.21 percent. In other words, if the size of the government is smaller than the threshold, the size has a negative and insignificant effect on the extreme poverty. In another side, the size of the government has a positive and significant effect on extreme poverty if the size of government is larger than the threshold
