Transient mechanical response of laminated elastic strips with viscous interfaces in cylindrical bending

Time-dependent mechanical responses of laminated strips with linearly viscous interfaces in cylindrical bending are studied. Numerical computations are performed for the strips consisting of two and three layers of equal thickness. The results indicate that the displacements and stresses in the strips change drastically with time. Since the present solution is obtained based on rigorous analysis of elasticity, it also provides a means to assess the accuracy of any approximate model proposed to treat similar problems for more general cases.
