Abstract :
The present study aims to investigate and identify the major components of attention and consciousness in Sahifeh Sajjadieh and to compare them with psychology of attention in terms of different dimensions of attention and consciousness. In this regard, the book Sahifeh Sajjadieh was first covered completely as the population of the study using qualitative content analysis. Then a five-component coding guideline was developed based on this analysis. A number of 75 sentences were extracted from the book as the units of meaning and sample of the study. The sample sentences were considered important in terms of capturing the concepts of attention and consciousness. The meaning units were then analyzed by two raters to examine the realization of five components in the sample. Eventually, the coded information was analyzed in terms of frequency and reliability between two raters using qualitative content analysis. The results showed that neglect was the most frequent component presented in the 75 meaning units, followed by the components of awareness, selection and arousal, respectively. The component of control was found to have the lowest frequency in the meaning units.
