Abstract :
The use of organo-clays in wastewater treatment has become commonplace in industry today. Organo-clays exhibit a synergistic effect with many commonly utilized water treatment unit processes including granularactivated charcoal, reverse osmosis, and air strippers. Organo-clays have proven to be the technology of choice for treating oily wastewaters. This paper will discuss the physical chemistry of the organo-clays sorption mechanism as well as numerous examples of where the technology has been applied.
