Abstract :
The π-electronic structures of 1D nanographite ribbon under the modulated magnetic field are studied by the tight-binding model. They are strongly dependent on the field strength Φ′ and the modulation period View the MathML source. The modulated magnetic field significantly affects the low energy bands, such as the modification of energy dispersions, the creation of extra new band-edge states, the destruction of state degeneracy, the change of band gap, and the semiconductor–metal transitions. The main features of energy bands are directly reflected in density of states (DOS). The modulated magnetic fields will alter the numbers, the positions, and the heights of the special peaks in DOS.
