Abstract :
Substitution of A and Me in AMe2Fe16O27 system ferrites by La0.5K0.5 and (Li0.5Fe0.5)xZn2−x, respectively, has been carried out. Several compositions were prepared by varying the x from 0 to 2. The sol–gel route was used for the preparation of the ferrites. Saturation magnetization studies as a function of sintering temperature show a significant increase in the values from 12 to 88 G cm3 gm−1 for sintering temperatures 1100–1325 °C. The curie temperature increases with an increase in the sintering temperature. The highest value of the order of 635 °C was obtained at x=1.8. The microstructure study of W-type ferrites indicates a rapid increase in the grain size beyond the sintering temperature of 1100 °C.
