Abstract :
This paper reviews the methods developed for the use of observations from the future satellite instruments in our current and future data assimilation systems. The approach is illustrated with the methods developed for the use of the Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer (IASI) instrument data. Four-dimensional variational (4DVAR) assimilation experiments are also carried out to evaluate the potential impact of other observing systems.
