Abstract :
Reason: The article, “A medium for the presumptive detection of Enterobacter sakazakii in infant formula,” Food Microbiology 21:527 (2004), was submitted for publication with a wrongful claim of authorship. The researchers who did the work, having written an internal report before departing from the institution where the work was done, were not consulted when a manuscript reporting their data was submitted for publication. Although listed as authors, they knew nothing about the submission or acceptance of the article until after its publication. Their disagreement with certain interpretations of the data underscores the fact that the manuscript was improperly submitted.
