New thermally stable polyamides derived from 2,9-diamino benzofuro[2,3-b]benzofuran, a new monomer

A new monomer, 2,9-diamino benzofuro[2,3-b]benzofuran was synthesized and characterized by means of IR, 1H NMR, MS and elemental analysis. New polyamides from this monomer and several aromatic diacids were prepared by direct and indirect polyamidation procedures. Thermal properties of these polyamides are compared, the results showed that the direct polyamidation generates polyamides with higher molecular weights and enhanced thermal stabilities.
