Abstract :
In the present paper, the influence of surfactants on spectral-luminescence properties of amphiphilic dyes 1-methyl-1′-octadecyl-2,2′-cyanineiodide and 1,1-dioctadecyl-3,3,3′,3′-tetramethylindodicarbocyanineperchlorate has been investigated in dimethylformamide–water binary solutions. It was found that cationic and anionic surfactants affect the spectral-luminescence properties of the dye molecules in different manner. Sodium dodecylsulphate micelle formation was found to prevent the aggregation of the dyes investigated due to a strong interaction between dye molecules and sodium dodecylsulphate micelles.
