Abstract
This paper describes a new finite-difference scheme for convection-diffusion equations used for prediction of heat transfer and fluid flow in nuclear power plant equipment. This method takes into account, more accurately, the distribution of the source term and the diffusion coefficient within the control volume. A comparison with the exact analytical solutions as well as the results obtained using other popular methods is also given. The efficient finite-differencing scheme is shown to be more accurate while using a mesh system with fewer grid points.
