Abstract :
The long recovery-time involved with an ion-sensitive field-effect transistor (ISFET)-based glucose sensor, in relation to long-term monitoring is one of the main problems preventing widespread commercialization. Accordingly, this paper proposes a new ISFET glucose sensor system with rapid recovery characteristics by an electrolysis method. In addition, since practical application requires a detailed understanding of the influence of electrolysis, the current article also investigates the recovery characteristics of an ISFET glucose sensor including the long-term stability, and the recovery time when using electrolysis. As a result, it was found that the recovery time of an ISFET glucose sensor was reduced to less than two minutes when using electrolysis in contrast to the 10 or 20 min required using a conventional method. Furthermore, no variation in the long-term stability at biasing the reduction potential was observed for 15 days.
