Abstract
A dissolved oxygen sensor based on the dynamic quenching of fluorescence from a ruthenium complex immobilized in a silica–Ni–P composite coating is reported. The silica–Ni–P composite coating was fabricated by dip-coating onto a 200 mesh copper-screen substrate. The composite coating was then doped with an oxygen-sensitive ruthenium complex, tris(2,2′-bipyridine)ruthenium dichloride, the fluorescence of which is quenched in the presence of oxygen. The preliminary result obtained with this composite coating indicates that this method can be an alternative approach for immobilizing oxygen-sensitive luminescent reagents.
