Abstract
Melt hydrogenation has been used to hydrogenate the titanium alloys ingots. After being remelted in H2/Ar gaseous mixture, the hydrogen atoms can be absorbed by Ti–6Al–4V (Ti64) alloy during the remelting process, and this process will modify the microstructure noticeably. β phase volume fraction increased with the hydrogen content in Ti64 alloy. δ hydride was found in the specimen with different hydrogen content. Compared with the unhydrogenated alloy, the hydrogenated alloy exhibited higher plasticity. With low hydrogen content, the alloy had a higher flow stress than that of the unhydrogenated alloy. Increasing the hydrogen content, the flow stress of hydrogenated alloy decreased quickly.
