Abstract :
We review the electronic structure of a quantum dot in the presence of a high magnetic field. For filling factor above 1, the ground state can be either a compact state, as the one obtained in mean field descriptions, or a skyrmion-like spin texture with topological charge 1. For lower filling factors, the dot suffers an edge reconstruction by means of an edge spin texture with vorticity larger than 1. We discuss the role of correlation effects in Kondo-like transport properties of the quantum dot.
