Abstract :
We study the coadsorption of Cl and Rb on Cu(111) surfaces at room and elevated temperatures by means of LEED, AES and TDS measurements. The results indicate a reaction of the coadsorbate and the formation of RbCl independent of the sequence of the adsorption. After completion of the RbCl formation the excess Rb adsorbs on top, with low binding energy. The RbCl formation leads to a strong ESD phenomenon.
