Abstract :
This study aims to investigate the characteristics of the local environment around paramagnetic centers formed by the Cr3+ ions in three oxi-spinels (ZnAl2O4, MgAl2O4, and ZnGa2O4) using superposition model analysis. The local lattice distortions in the vicinity of the impurity ion Cr3+ have been derived by means of the distortion angle ( Δ θ ) from the z ∥ [ 111 ] -axis and the shift of the oxygen anions ( Δ z ). The results are used to assign a proper symmetry for B-sites located by chromium ions.
