Modelling of creep damage to estimate remaining life

The paper discusses the methods for estimation of damage and of remaining life assessment in high temperature plant. The difficulties in correlating creep cavity formation with damage are examined and the Kachanov damage assessment procedures are discussed. It is suggested that Kachanov damage methods should be used in conjunction with metallographic procedures for life assessment of actual components.
