Abstract :
Duplex microstructures with 20% αp content were produced in Ti–6Al–7Nb by a variety of thermomechanical treatments including variations in deformation mode with or without intermediate short time β annealing, and variations in cooling rate from the duplex anneal. The fatigue results indicate a correlation between facetted fatigue fracture origins, microtexture and fatigue strength at R=0.1.
