Abstract :
Storm deposits are common on Chinese coasts. Modern shoreface storm deposits can be seen along most shorefaces, especially on the intertidal flat of the North Jiangsu Province, the south bank of Yangtze River Delta, Hangzhou Bay and Hainan Island.
t storm deposits (“tempestites”) can be found in the carbonate rocks of Sinian, Pre-Cambrian, Cambrian, Carboniferous, Permian and Triassic age. They are distributed on the North China Platform, Lower Yangtze area and Sichuan Basin. In addition to carbonate tempestites, there are also some phosphatic and siliciclastic tempestites in China.
aper summarizes observations of these storm deposits, widespread on the coast and inland in China.
