Abstract :
One way for a reduction in the release of carbon dioxide (CO2) to the atmosphere is to inject CO2 into deep saline geological formations. Reactive transport modeling of hydrogeochemical processes is necessary to evaluate the behavior and performance of CO2 geological sequestration. In this paper, we present two examples, (1) short-term changes in groundwater chemistry, and (2) long-term fate of injected CO2, to illustrate applicability of the modeling.
