Abstract :
Surgeons are in continuous need of valid and reliable tools for accurate diagnosis of their patients surgical conditions. However, in the presence of multiple modalities of diagnosis it becomes difficult for the surgeons to select the most appropriate diagnostic modality. Therefore, it is essential, nowadays, for every surgeon to have the necessary skills to appraise critically the research evidence available for the various diagnostic modalities available. This is usually done through assessing the validity, reliability and importance of the diagnostic tool as described in this article
