Abstract :
Natural vegetation of Turkey has lost its essential state and its features have changed because of such reasons causing the destruction of the forests for ages by the people as opening up growing areas, providing firewood and construction material, grazing, and forest fire. The negative effect of the human beings on vegetation and the changes they have made have been strong in relation to the lack of settlement in that place. As a result of all these causes, the forests in Turkey are limited to the mountain ranges in the northern and southern regions and they could be able to cling on the high mountains in other regions. However, in these places, they are not placed on the desired levels but placed on levels lower than forest boundary. Without doubt, the effect of Turkey’s geographical position is of great importance in such a crucial change in the vegetation of Turkey. Since, Turkey, which acts as a bridge between Eastern and Western worlds, has always been a route of invasions and wars. The present state of the vegetation is a cause of centuries of destruction which started when wood was the sole firing material, and the livelihood of people was mainly based on agriculture and stockbreeding.
