  • Abstract
his study was carried out from 15 March 2013 to 15 October 2013. The aim was to study the effect of five concentrations (0, 50, 100, 200 and 400 mg.l-1 ) of gibberellic acid (GA3) on the germination and growth performance of four turf grass seeds genera including Bermuda grass (Cynodon dactylon L. var. cd4), Tall fescue grass (Festuca arrundaceae L. var. Barleroy), Kentucky blue grass (Poa pratensis L. var. Baron) and Perennial Rye grass (Lolium perenne L. var. Barlennium). Hence, two factorial experiments were conducted by using the Completely Randomized Block Design. The results were summarized as an increased GA3 concentration to 400 mg.l-1 caused significant increase in all the studied characteristics in this experiment, (germination percentage 63.72%, plant height 5.99 cm, number of tillers 6.25, fresh and dry weight of vegetative growth 6.46 and 2.61 g, fresh and dry weight of roots 3.24 and 1.66 g respectively) in comparison with other concentrations. Rye grass seeds were superior significantly to others genera in all the studied characteristics except in number of tillers which Bermuda grass (7.29) was significantly superior to other turf grass genera.
