Abstract :
Moral maturity can be described as a high level of person’s emotion, opinion, idea, attitudeand behaviors in terms of suitability to moral rules. This concept, especially in education, ismore important about the professional teacher which is a role model from the point of view ofmaking students get to the aimed behaviors. The purpose of this study is to determine the moralmaturity level of teacher candidates. This study was performed on 222 teacher candidates inthe fall semester of the academic year of 2012-2013 in the Kastamonu University Faculty ofEducation. General scanning method was used in this research; the data has been obtained by“measurement of moral maturity”. The scale is a lykert-type scale, has 42 items and developedby Şengün and Kaya (2007). The value of the overall reliability of measurement instrument is0.89. As a result of this study, it was found that, teacher candidates have high moral maturitylevel, there hasn’t occurred a significant differentiation in this level with regard to gender, butoccurred a significant differentiation in this level with regard to branch.
