(1) have published a study investigating the pituitary functions during the acute phase of traumatic brain injury (TBI) in pediatric cases in the September 2013 issue of Erciyes Medical Journal. In their elegant study, the authors have clearly demonstrated that nearly 20% of patients had ACTH deficiency (secondary adrenal insufficiency) and 10% had TSH deficiency during the first 24 hours of head injury.
