The Manifestation of Emotional Worlds in Na rratives of Personal Experience by German-Turkish Bilingual and German Monolingual Students

In this study, written texts by German-Turkish bilingual and German monolingual students telling about their personal experience, are investigated in regard to the element of the narrative scheme of Labov and Waletzky (1967; 1973), and in regard to the manifestations of emotional worlds in narratives of personal experience. The objective of this study is to determine the linguistic and textual manifestations which were used to encode the emotions in these texts on the micro, macro and meta level - particularly in regard to the tellability presentation. It is furthermore intended to find out to what extent the texts of the German-Turkish bilingual and the German monolingual students show similarities and differences in regard to the manifestations of emotions in narratives.
